Mozilla Firefox 4 RC for Mobile now available for download

After months of alpha and beta testing, Today Mozilla has released the Firefox 4 release candidate (RC) for Android and Maemo devices.

This release offers faster scrolling, better responsiveness with Firefox Sync and improves the overall user experience of Firefox. Firefox 4 for Android and Maemo brings the performance and customization of Firefox to mobile devices with features like Firefox Sync, Awesome Screen, tabbed browsing and Firefox Add-ons, to create a personalized and effortless mobile browsing experience.

The Firefox 4 release candidate is available for download on the Android Marketplace and for Maemo devices such as the Nokia N900. If there are no significant bugs found, Mozilla will release the final version soon.

Firmware Update v014.002 released for Symbian^3 devices

Today Nokia rolled out minor firmware update v014.002 (N8-00,C7-00 & C6-01 PR1.2 / E7-00 PR1.1) for Symbian^3 devices addressing some minor bug,  identified in a limited  number of Symbian^3 smartphones.

Bits from Nokia support discussion board:-

“The primary reason for releasing this update is to address a Mail for Exchange synchronization issue. It will also include a new version of Ovi Store as well as a new version of Ovi Maps (SR6), adding visibility to subways, trams and trains, real-time traffic, safety alerts, visibility to parking and petrol stations, speed limit warnings, and improved search and location sharing capabilities.”

You can update your firmware over OTA (Over-The-Air) or via  Ovi Suite on Windows PC . Symbian^3 devices does support UDP (User Data Preservation), but its always a good idea to backup all your personal data before updating the  firmware. The update is about 899kB in size via OTA.

Note: It may take some time before the new firmware is available for your region.

Nokia – Let’s tweet ‘I #recycling’

Nokia the world’s leading mobile phone manufacturer has taken responsibility to save our environment. They have started a new campaign on twitter Let’s tweet I #recycling’ to increase awareness about recycling mobile phones.

As a part of this campaign they have released a  funny video to increase awareness about recycling & environment. Check out the video below!

We have already spoken a lot about Recycling Mobile Phones in the past. Don’t forget the ‘Planet Ke Rakhwale‘ campaign, which was great hit in India. According to Nokia there are around 44% of old mobile phones sitting in people's drawers not being recycled. Now its the time, Lets take the tresponsibility to save our environment  by recycling our old phones and mobile accessories.
